Bronte Awards

At the heart of the Trust is a commitment to providing pupils with a broad, enriching, and inspirational range of opportunities beyond the classroom. The Brontë Awards build on this vision, strengthening our personal development offer to ensure every child grows in resilience, confidence, independence, and ambition.

Through the Awards, pupils are better prepared for secondary school and life beyond, developing both academically and socially. They demonstrate respect, tolerance, and a positive contribution to their community, with Trust values—Making a Difference, Pupils First, Acting with Integrity, Learning Together—consistently brought to life through hands-on experiences. Alignment with DfE expectations on Promoting Fundamental British Values is embedded throughout the programme.

The Brontë Awards are built around a clear, progressive framework tailored to each key stage. Pupils earn themed badges linked to enrichment experiences—such as trips, community service, arts participation, outdoor learning, and teamwork challenges—that go beyond the standard curriculum, promoting resilience, excellence, and friendship. Schools deliver the Awards consistently while allowing flexibility to reflect their local context.

Achievements are celebrated visibly through ceremonies, certificates, and displays, giving pupils tangible recognition and fostering pride, identity, and a sense of belonging across the Trust. Participation is carefully tracked to ensure every child has access to the full range of experiences, integrating seamlessly with the curriculum and the wider personal development framework.

The Brontë Awards inspire children to embrace new challenges, develop their potential, and make a meaningful difference to themselves, their school, and their community.
